Our Read

The Matrixx manual is the most transparent document from any online brand we checked. It lists three salt settings with capacity and water use, then says plainly that WQA hasn’t validated them. Its 72-gallon ‘optimal’ regeneration uses more water than the maximum setting, as printed.

Bottom line: A good choice if you want app control and published salt settings. Just know the figures are the maker’s own.

Maker Claims vs the Record

Capacity: maker says

35,000 grains maximum capacity (1.0 cu ft). Matrixx manual

On the record

The same manual's maximum salt setting (15 lb) yields 32,000 grains. Matrixx manual

Our read

The headline number is above the highest setting the manual lists. Plan on 24,000 at the 6 lb setting.

Certification: maker says

Smart, metered, high efficiency. US Water Systems product page

On the record

Not validated by WQA, per the manual. Matrixx manual

Our read

Unusually candid, and useful. The salt settings are published even though they aren't certified.
