Capacity by Salt Dose
Capacity per regeneration at each salt dose the maker publishes (GE manual (49-6000319), source). We don't fill in doses between these points. The efficiency rating (5,120 grains per lb) applies only at the 3.89 lb dose.
Our Read
GE publishes the clearest certification note we found. Its footnote says the capacity is certified only at the highest and lowest doses. At $799 on GE’s site, it has the most resin of the big-box units (1.5 cu ft) and a 9.5 gpm service flow. It replaces the older GXSH40V, which GE no longer lists.Bottom line: The best-documented big-box softener for larger households on city water. Run it near the low dose for efficiency, or the middle dose for longer intervals.
